Mandy Stallings is a Brooklyn-based dance artist, choreographer and educator with over twenty years of professional experience in New York City. She earned her BFA in Modern Dance Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and her MFA in Choreography from Wilson College.
Over the course of her extensive career, Mandy has performed the works of renowned choreographers such as Larry Keigwin, Nicole Wolcott, Pascal Rekoert, Neta Pulvermacher, Scott Rink, Gerri Houlihan, Grady Bowman, Lina Puodziukaite, Ryan "Orion" Beck, Sean Sullivan, Trish Casey, and many others. From 2008 to 2016, Mandy performed exclusively for the prolific modern dance choreographer, Cleo Mack.
Cleo Mack Dance Project performed throughout the tri-state area in venues such as New York City Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Joyce Soho, and George Street Playhouse. Mandy currently performs and serves on the Board of Directors for Mack's newest creative endeavor, Rock Dance Collective, since its inception in 2016. RDC "creates sensory experiences for audiences in both nontraditional and traditional spaces and responds to societal and environmental stimuli to create large scale, evening length works." Rock Dance Collective is represented by Pentacle and has most recently been commissioned by Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, St. Mark’s Church on the Bowery, South Orange Performing Arts Center, Rutgers Summer Stage, DanceNOW SteelStacks, Dixon Place, CoLab Arts, The Outlet Dance Project, and the Morris Museum (A Smithsonian affiliate).
As an independent choreographer, Mandy's work has been presented in prominent NYC venues such as Capezio Peridance Center, Long Island University, Arts on Site, Judson Memorial Church, Dance Forum, Galapagos Art Space, HATCH, Studio A.I.R., SWEAT performance series, and the Cunningham Studio. In February 2020, she premiered her evening length one-woman show, "Domesticated:Housebroken" at the Pratt Theater in Brooklyn.
Mandy is a dedicated and highly skilled dance educator recognized for innovative curriculum design and creating inclusive and inspiring learning atmospheres. For the past eleven years, she has taught at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn. In 2022, she was awarded the Frank L. Babbott Chair for Arts and Literature, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Packer faculty member. Mandy’s high school students have been selected to perform alongside professional dancers in showcases across NYC: LEMI Collective's "100 Days Festival”, DanceWave's "Kids Cafe Festival", “National Emerging Choreographers Festival" at the 92nd St Y Harkness Dance Center, and most recently, the “Liberty Hall Dance Festival'' at Liberty Hall Museum. Dancers in her program have received national and state level awards for their performance and choreography and have gone on to dance at the collegiate level and in professional companies.
Mandy is a committed advocate for dance education; she is an active member of National Dance Education Organization, chapter sponsor of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts at Packer Collegiate, and currently serves on the Board of the New York State Dance Education Association as the Director of NHSDA.
Mandy is passionate about teaching modern dance and western dance composition, improvisation, jazz and musical theater dance. She is also a certified yoga instructor and Reiki master, bringing a holistic approach to dance education, guiding her students on their own journey of well-being, self-discovery and empowerment.
